We have bid farewell to our Indian summer and autumn’s weather is well and truly here! It has been wonderful to see community events resume, including the many coffee mornings taking place on behalf of the Harold’s Cross Hospice.I am continuing my weekly walkabouts to meet with people in our area. This monthly update gives you an overview of work I’ve been doing on your behalf. In the meantime, if you would like to discuss anything in the newsletter or would like help or advice, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.Tabhair aire!Shane
I was delighted to welcomeDarragh O’Brien TD, Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritageto Dublin Mid-West last week to open our newest park – Tandy’s Lane Park. This Park is a fantastic recreational amenity for residents in Adamstown and surrounding areas. It was great to join the Mayor and fellow councillors for the opening and to see the beautiful walking routes, breath-taking natural beauty, and the fantastic playgrounds. If you get a chance, check it out!
September Area Committee Update
This week, we had the last meeting of the Lucan, Palmerstown and North Clondalkin Area Committee since the summer. This meeting presents an opportunity to raise local issues in our area. You can watch my video updatebelow to see some of the matters discussed, including the need for a structured approach to improving safety and usage of Cluain Rí Park, an update on outstanding footpath repairs and the introduction of a mattress amnesty and a bulky waste collection .
Plan for Cluain Rí Park
Since being elected, I have highlighted the need for a plan to increase usability and improve safety at Cluain Rí Park on Ballyowen Lane. I have lobbied the Council to cut back overgrowth and excessive vegetation, clear dumping and address the need to replace gates to the park. Following a motion I put forward, the Council will now bring forward options for further improvement of the park in October. This park has great potential as a green area for residents in surrounding estates and I am hopeful we will see progress in increasing usage of it.

More bins and better public lighting secured

These include reinstatement of public litter bins on Manor Road and Oakcourt, repair of the boundary between Moorfield and Palmerstown Woods, requested repair of public lighting on the Neilstown Road and roadworks near the Oval. I also requested an update on the footpath repair programme at the recent Area Committee meeting, including outstanding works from last year’s programme. You can view the current schedulehere.
